Abstract

Abstract - Exclusive breastfeeding supports the baby's physical, mental, and emotional growth optimally, while providing long-term health protection. About 68% of babies under the age of six months in Indonesia received exclusive breastfeeding in 2023, but the coverage of breastfeeding for newborns is still low. This study aimed to determine the effect of the combination of oxytocin massage and marmet technique on breast milk production in postpartum mothers. This type of research was a quasy experiment research with a one group pre-post test design. The sample of this study was some of the postpartum mothers who gave birth at Reksa Waluya Hospital as many as 20 people and were taken by accidental sampling technique taken during January 2025. Furthermore, the data was processed and analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-ranks test. The results showed that the average score of breast milk production before being given treatment was 6.10 with an SD of 0,718. Meanwhile, the average milk production score after being treated was 9.15 with an SD of 1,09. The results of the analysis using the Wilcoxon signed-ranks test were found that there was an effect of the combination of oxytocin massage and marmet technique on breast milk production with a p-value of 0,001. The combination of oxytocin massage and the marmet technique is one of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be developed to help increase milk production. The combination can also have psychological impacts such as increasing confidence and comfort while breastfeeding. With these results, health workers are expected to be able to apply oxytoine massage and marmet techniques to postpartum mothers both who give birth spontaneously and SC to increase breast milk production.
