Abstract

Abstract - Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis must adhere to fluid intake restrictions to prevent serious complications. Compliance with these restrictions is often difficult to maintain and is greatly influenced by external factors, one of which is family support. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and the level of compliance with fluid restrictions in hemodialysis patients at Lavalette Hospital in Malang. This study used a cross-sectional approach. The sample consists of 60 respondents selected using purposive sampling, conducted in August 2025. The study utilizes a questionnaire assessed via the Spearman's Rank Correlation Test. The results showed that 51.7% of patients received adequate family support, and 40% of patients were non-compliant with fluid intake restrictions.The Spearman's rank correlation test yielded an asymmetric significance value (p) = 0.004 and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.370, indicating a significant association between family support and compliance with fluid intake restrictions among patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at Lavalette Hospital in Malang, with a moderate correlation coefficient. The results of this study can be used as a guide in developing structured educational standards for families as part of the support system for hemodialysis patients. In addition, hospitals can also form teams consisting of nurses, nutritionists, and/or social workers or psychologists tasked with providing comprehensive support.
