Abstract

Abstract - Independence is a crucial aspect of preschool children's development, significantly influencing their readiness for school and social life. This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting patterns and the independence of preschool-aged children at Kartika IX-33 Mojosari Mojokerto Kindergarten. This study used a correlational research design with a descriptive cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was 40 respondents. The sample in this study consisted of 36 respondents, selected using a specific sampling technique. proportionate random sampling. The instruments used are the Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire Short Version (PSDQ) to collect data on parenting patterns and the Preschool Child Independence Questionnaire to collect data on child independence. Statistical tests using chi-square. The results of the study showed that almost all parents, 28 (77.8%), implemented a democratic parenting style. Meanwhile, the majority of respondents' independence was in the moderate category, 23 (63.9%). The results of the statistical test showed a significance value (p) of 0.032, indicating a statistically significant relationship between parenting patterns and the independence of preschool-aged children at Kartika IX-33 Mojosari Mojokerto Kindergarten.
