Abstract

ABSTRACT Women can experience menstrual cycle disorders or vaginal discharge caused by stress. Other causes of vaginal discharge include allergies caused by objects intentionally or accidentally inserted into the vagina, such as tampons, contraceptives, pubic hair, threads from blankets, underwear, and others. It can also be caused by wounds such as punctures, impacts, pressure, or prolonged irritation. The method used in this study was a survey. This study used a cross sectional design with the aim of investigating the relationship between personal hygiene of female intimate organs and the occurrence of vaginal discharge among adolescents at the Bilqis Putri Dormitory, Darul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Jombang. The results showed a significant relationship between personal hygiene behavior and the occurrence of vaginal discharge in adolescents at the Bilqis Putri Dormitory, Darul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Jombang. This means that the level of hygiene and self-care practiced by adolescents influences the likelihood of students experiencing vaginal discharge, both physiological and pathological. Vaginal discharge is a common condition that occurs in women, but if it is pathological, it can indicate an infection or health problem that requires further attention. This study suggests that further research could explore other factors contributing to vaginal discharge in adolescents, such as diet, stress levels, and the use of feminine hygiene products.
