Abstract

ABSTRACT Hypertension was one of the chronic diseases that required self-care management. Self-care management in hypertensive patients was a form of positive effort by the patients to optimize their health. However, most hypertensive patients still lacked proper self-care management. One example was patients who only occasionally visited healthcare services to check and control their blood pressure. The objective of this study was to analyze the factors that influenced self-care management in hypertensive patients. The research method used was correlation. The population consisted of all 72 hypertensive patients, with 46 samples taken using simple random sampling.Independent variables: Education, knowledge, duration of illness, family support, self-efficacy. Dependent variable: Self-care management in hypertensive patients. The instrument of this research was a questionnaire, and the statistical test used was the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most respondents (52.2%) had a high level of education, (78.3%) had long-term hypertension, (67.4%) had sufficient knowledge, (76.1%) had good family support, half of them (50.0%) had high self-efficacy, and most (66.2%) had good self-care management. Based on the results of the Chi-Square test, there was a significant relationship between education, duration of hypertension, knowledge, family support, and self-efficacy with self-care management at Klinik Pratama Bidokkes A. Yani Surabaya. The respondents and their families had to pay more attention to the low-salt diet compliance of hypertensive patients. Many respondents still did not follow the low-salt diet, so their blood pressure was not controlled and it could cause complications of other diseases Keywords: Education, Duration Of Hypertension, Knowledge, Family Support, Self-Efficacy, Self-Care Management
