Abstract

Abstract Hospitalization in children is a planned process to provide therapy and care to children while in the hospital. Children often experience traumatic experiences and are full of stress while in the hospital. This study aims to determine the relationship between hospitalization stress and sleep quality in children at Eka Husada Hospital Gresik. This study used a descriptive cross-sectional design. The study population was all pediatric patients at Eka Husada Hospital Gresik totaling 86 children from March to May 2025, using a purposive sampling technique obtained a sample of 32 respondents. The dependent variable used the PSQI questionnaire and the independent variable used the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale questionnaire. The results of the statistical test analysis used the rho sperm. The results showed that almost half of the respondents (48.8%) were in the moderate stress category, the sleep quality of most respondents (74%) was in the good category. The results of the statistical test analysis using the rho sperm obtained a p-value of 0.000 <0.05. In conclusion, hospitalization stress influences the level of sleep quality in children. Mild hospitalization stress tends to cause children to experience good sleep quality. Conversely, severe hospitalization stress tends to cause children to experience poor sleep quality. Sleep is crucial for the healing process, and the sleep quality of hospitalized pediatric patients is affected by hospitalization stress. Addressing sleep problems in pediatric patients requires avoiding and minimizing stressors during hospitalization.. Keywords: Hospitalization Stress, Sleep Quality, Children.
