Abstract

Abstract - Post-cataract surgery care is highly influenced by patient compliance in carrying out the prescribed treatment. One of the factors affecting patient compliance is discharge planning. This aims to determine the relationship between the implementation of discharge planning and treatment compliance among post-cataract surgery patients al-Irsyad Hospital Surabaya. This research employed a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of post-cataract surgery patients at Al-Irsyad Hospital Surabaya. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling, resulting in 52 respondents. The research instruments were discharge planning and patient compliance questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that most discharge planning was in the good category (78.8%) and most patient compliance was in the compliant category (73.1%). Statistical analysis with the Spearman Rank test obtained a p-value < 0.01, indicating that H1 was accepted, meaning there is a significant relationship between discharge planning and compliance. The Spearman Rank correlation coefficient was 0.656, indicating a strong positive correlation, meaning that the better the implementation of discharge planning, the higher the level of patient compliance with post-surgical care. Optimal discharge planning by health professionals plays an important role in improving patient compliance, preventing complications, accelerating recovery, and enhancing the quality of life of patients. Keywords: discharge planning, patient compliance, post-cataract surgery
