Abstract

ABSTRACT Surgery is an invasive procedure carried out to treat a patient's problem/disease surgically. Unpleasant effects that often arise after surgery or surgery are nausea and vomiting. This study aims to determine what factors are associated with the incidence of Post Operative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) at Lavalette Hospital, Malang. This research is a type of analytical research using a research design method with a cross-sectional approach. With a sample of post-operative patients at Lavalette Hospital Malang with a total of 36 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. Based on the research results, it was found that the majority of respondents did not have a history of nausea and vomiting, 21 respondents (58.3%). Most of them had anesthesia duration in the Anesthesia category > 1 hour, 22 respondents (61.1%). Most of the respondents underwent GA type anesthesia, 20 respondents (55.6%). And the majority of respondents did not experience PONV, 28 respondents (77.8%). The results of the analysis test using the Chi-Square test showed a p value of: 0.003 (p<0.05) that there was a relationship between a history of nausea and vomiting and the incidence of (PONV). The p value: 0.011 (p<0.05) shows that there is a relationship between the duration of anesthesia and (PONV). And the p value: 0.004 (p<0.05) shows that there is a relationship between the type of anesthesia and the incidence (PONV) at Lavalette Hospital, Malang. Implement standard protocols in monitoring and managing PONV effectively to improve the quality of patient care. Collect regular data on the incidence of PONV and related factors to assist in the evaluation and improvement of PONV prevention systems in hospitals. Keywords: Nausea vomiting, anesthesia and PONV
