Abstract
ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world, which is about 95% of all types of diabetes. Prevention of complications of type 2 DM can be done by doing good self-management. To improve self care, good self efficacy and family support are needed for diabetes management. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and family support with self management of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at the Reksa Waluya Hospital. This research design is Cross Sectional. This research was conducted at the Reksa Waluya Hospital. Data collection time April-Mei, 2025. The population in this study were patients who sought treatment at the Reksa Waluya Hospital with an average monthly visit of 40 people. The sample amounted to 40 DM patients selected using accidental sampling technique. The research instrument used the GSE, HDFSS, and SDSCA questionnaires. Data collection techniques were carried out by guided interviews. Univariate data analysis was performed with frequency distribution and percentage. Bivariate analysis used Spearman’s Rho test. The results showed that almost half (27,5%) of respondents with poor self care, almost half (22,5%) of respondents with poor self-efficacy, and almost half (20%) of respondents with poor family support, There is a relationship between self-efficacy and self care (p=0.001) and the relationship between family support and self care (p=0.002). It can be concluded that there is a relationship between self-sfficacy and family support with self-care in DM patients at the Reksa Waluya Hospital. It is hoped that nurse in Puskesmas can provide information to patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus about the benefits and importance of self-efficacy, especially in participating in activities organized by the Hospital and provide information to patients and families about the benefits and importance of family support, especially in appreciation support, so that patients are able to manage their disease and improve their quality of life.
