Abstract

Abstract The lack of family involvement in the care of family members with hypertension is a common problem in the community. This is due to the lack of active family monitoring of medication adherence, resulting in many hypertension sufferers experiencing poorly controlled and unstable blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family involvement and blood pressure stability in hypertension sufferers in Ngastemi Village, Bangsal District, Mojokerto Regency.This study used a correlational cross-sectional design. The independent variable was family involvement, and the dependent variable was blood pressure stability. The study population consisted of 72 hypertensive patients visiting the Village Health Post (Ponkesdes) in Ngastemi Village, Bangsal District, Mojokerto Regency. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 42 respondents. Data were collected using questionnaires and blood pressure observations, and tested using the chi-square test. The results showed that of the 22 respondents with positive family involvement, almost all (42,9%) had stable blood pressure. Meanwhile, of the 20 respondents with less positive family involvement, the majority (35,7%) had unstable blood pressure. The chi-square test results show a ρ value of 0.000 and α = 0.05, indicating a correlation between family role and blood pressure stability in hypertension patients in Ngastemi Village, Bangsal, Mojokerto. The role of the family has been shown to help hypertension patients maintain controlled or stable blood pressure by reminding them for regular check-ups, taking them to the nearest health facility, and reminding them to take their medication regularly Keywords : family role, stability of blood pressure, hypertension
