Abstract
ABSTRACT The age of 3-6 months is the golden period. Failure to achieve a healthy weight can have long-term impacts such as an increased risk of infant mortality, immune disorders, infections, delayed cognitive development, and an increased risk of stunting and wasting. Efforts to optimize weight gain, in addition to nutrition, include stimulation such as baby massage. This study aimed to determine the effect of baby massage on weight gain in infants aged 3-6 months at the Murtini PMB (Nursing and Childcare Center) in Jeblogan Village, Karangtengah District, Wonogiri Regency. This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 infants aged 3-6 months, using a non-probability sampling technique. The independent variable was baby massage, and the dependent variable was weight gain. Data analysis used a paired t-test. Primary data collection was conducted using weight observation sheets and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for baby massage implementation. The lowest weight before baby massage was 4,600 grams, the highest was 8,300 grams, and the average was 6,470 grams. The lowest infant weight after baby massage (week 4) was 5,300 grams, the highest was 8,900 grams, and the average was 7,033.33 grams. Baby massage affects infant weight in 3-6-month-olds, with a paired t-test showing a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Baby massage increases levels of absorption enzymes and insulin, improving food absorption and reducing hunger. Healthcare workers can increase parental knowledge through counseling and training on the importance of baby massage. Keywords: Baby Massage, Weight Gain, Weight Loss
