Abstract

neonate through incisions in the abdominal wall and uterus, typically when vaginal delivery was not feasible or posed risks to the mother and fetus. The rate of CS deliveries in many countries, including Indonesia, had increased over time. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with the incidence of CS delivery. This research was a correlational analytic study with a case-control design. The total sample consisted of 118 respondents, including 59 cases (CS delivery) and 59 controls (normal delivery), obtained from medical records at Reksa Waluya Hospital in 2025. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The variables studied included history of cesarean section, interpregnancy interval, and history of obstetric complications. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of α = 0.05, along with the calculation of odds ratio (OR). The results showed that the majority of respondents had no history of CS (66.9%), most had an interpregnancy interval of ≥ 2 years (51.7%), and most had a history of obstetric complications (60.2%). The analysis indicated that there was a significant relationship between a history of CS and the incidence of CS delivery (p-value = 0.001 and OR = 14.7). Additionally, there was a significant relationship between a history of obstetric complications and the incidence of CS delivery (p-value = 0.001 and OR = 5.9). However, there was no relationship between interpregnancy interval and the incidence of CS delivery (p-value = 0.197). Based on the study results, healthcare providers were expected to enhance education and routine pregnancy monitoring to detect risk factors early, thereby reducing the incidence of CS deliveries without medical indications.
