Abstract

Abstract - Patient safety is a crucial aspect of healthcare that must be prioritized to minimize risks and improve treatment outcomes. Nurses' compliance with patient safety standards plays a significant role in enhancing both service quality and patient outcomes. This study aims to identify the factors associated with nurse compliance in implementing patient safety standards. This research employed a quantitative design with a correlational, cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 104 inpatient nurses at Bhayangkara Hospital Surabaya H.S. Samsoeri, with a sample of 83 nurses selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire addressing factors influencing nurses’ compliance with patient safety standards. The results indicated that most nurses demonstrated good knowledge (56.6%), nearly all exhibited positive attitudes (98.8%), and the majority had at least two years of work experience (68.7%). Statistical testing using the Spearman rank correlation showed a significant relationship between knowledge and compliance (ρ = 0.023) with a low correlation level (r = 0.133), between attitude and compliance (ρ = 0.026) with a moderate correlation level (r = 0.413), and between work experience and compliance (ρ = 0.037) with a low correlation level (r = 0.251). The results of this study show that there is a relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and work experience with nurse compliance in the implementation of patient safety standards. It is expected that respondents will continue to improve compliance in the implementation of patient safety standards by adding insight and participating in training. Keywords: patient safety standards, knowledge factors, attitude factors, work experience factors, nurse compliance.
