Abstract
ABSTRACT: Nurses working in inpatient wards face patient complaints and strive to resolve them. Furthermore, excessive workloads can cause stress, which, if worsened, can lead to burnout. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between workload and coping mechanisms and burnout syndrome in inpatient nurses at Al Islam H.M. Mawardi General Hospital. This type of research is quantitative with a correlational cross-sectional design approach. The population used by the researcher was all 113 inpatient nurses at Al Islam H.M Mawardi Hospital, taken as a sample using the Alovin formula of 88 with a simple random sampling technique. The data collection techniques and procedures were by filling out the MBI (Maslach Burnout Inventory) and Nasa TLX questionnaires. After the data was collected, it was analyzed through the process of editing, coding, scoring, and tabulating and analyzed using the Pearson product moment and Spearman rho tests. The results of the analysis show that there is a relationship between workload and nurses' bornout syndrome in the inpatient ward with Asym.sig of 0.000 and <α (0.05). There is a relationship between coping mechanisms and nurses' bornout syndrome in the inpatient ward of Al-Islam H.M. Mawardi Krian Hospital in 2025 with an Asym.sig level of 0.000 and (0.05). Heavy workloads drain nurses' adaptive abilities. This condition triggers three main components of burnout: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, or emotional distancing from patients, and decreased personal accomplishment. The strategies nurses use to cope with work pressure significantly influence the level of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion they experience. Nurses with adaptive coping mechanisms, such as seeking social support, managing rest periods, engaging in relaxation, or constructive problem-solving, tend to have lower levels of burnout. The results of the study show that there is an influence, so it is hoped that the results of this study can be used as a reference for managing the workload for nurses in order to overcome mental fatigue.
