Abstract

Abstract There are several types of restraint measures or restraints, including restraint jackets, cuffs for the wrists and feet, and can use bed linen, but in practice the installation of restraints is still not in accordance with the established procedures so that it has a negative impact on the patient. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between nurses' knowledge about restraint and the implementation of restraint measures The research design was correlational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The independent variable of the research was knowledge and the dependent variable was the act of restrain. The research population were all nurses in the Integrated Intensive Service Installation Room of RSUD Sidoarjo as many as 93 nurses. Samples were taken using simple random sampling technique as many as 76 nurses. Data were collected with a questionnaire instrument and tested with the Spearman Rho test. The results of the study showed that almost all of the respondents who lacked knowledge about restraint carried out restraint actions that were less skilled as many as 13 respondents (86.7%). and almost all of the respondents who had sufficient knowledge about restrain carried out the act of restrain skillfully as many as 27 respondents (90%). while almost all of the respondents who had good knowledge of restrain carried out skilled restraint actions as many as 31 respondents (100%). The results of the Spearman rho test showed the value of ρ = 0.000 <α = 0.05, then H0 is rejected so that there is a relationship between knowledge and the act of installing restraints in the Integrated Intensive Service Installation Room (IPIT) of Sidoarjo Hospital. Based on the value of the correlation coefficient, the value of r = 0.666 is obtained so that it can be said that the relationship between the two variables is in the category of a strong relationship. The existence of respondents who have less knowledge but are skilled in carrying out restraint actions occurs because of the following guidelines and also frequently seeing skilled co-workers perform restraint acts Keywords : Knowledge, Action, Restraint
